Cristina Pieropan is an accomplished Italian artist. She creates her elaborate illustrations using the technique of etching and then hand tints the prints with water color. Cristina’s favorite themes are cities—with their busy streets, old buildings, and windows that tell the stories of the characters—animals, and children. She loves creating meticulous descriptions of plants and flowers, and also enjoys inserting details of fabrics, objects, and details taken from her previous experience as a fashion designer.
She has illustrated over 25 picture books in Italy and abroad for major publishing houses and her work has been selected in several international exhibitions, such as Itabashi Art Museum, Tokyo; BIB, Bratislava; CJ Picture Book Festival, Seoul, to name a few. One of her etchings is now in the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace. Cristina leads engraving workshops for children and adults at museums, libraries, and bookstores. She lives and works in Castelfranco Veneto with her big family and their big black dog.
