Emma Lewis

Emma Lewis is an illustrator and writer from London. Her work uses a mixture of mainly traditional media with some help from the computer. She is largely inspired by different human perspectives, folk art, mid-century picture books and travel, which are all reflected in her distinctive style of working. Within the pages of her books, she likes to explore ideas around identity, community and the absurd. Emma is the author of several books, and was the recipient of the BolognaRagazzi Opera Prima Award in 2017. She has been twice nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal and her books have been translated into a variety of languages worldwide. She studied Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts in London and at Falmouth University. Alongside writing and illustrating, she runs image-making workshops and lectures at a number of places in the UK and abroad.
