Marta Pantaleo

Marta Pantaleo

Marta was born in Rome, where she lives and works. After studying graphic design and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, and illustration at MiMaster in Milan, she won the Carthusia Silent Book Contest in 2016 with her first picture book Ciao ciao giocattoli (Bye Bye Toys). Since then, she’s been working as a freelance illustrator for children’s books, magazines and newspapers. Her clients include Mondadori, Terre di Mezzo, Orecchio Acerbo, Editions Milan, la Repubblica, Rolling Stone Italia, il Corriere della sera, L’Espresso, Emergency.

She likes stories that take on reality from a surprising point of view, revealing things that can’t be seen with the naked eye. Her favorite books include Munari’s Machines by Bruno Munari, the series This is... by Miroslav Sasek, The Cat at Night by Dahlov Ipcar, Ballads by Blexbolex. Her love for engraving and silkscreen printing is apparent in her bright and bold digital illustrations that come across as simple, but are rich in detail.

Her work has been selected and exhibited in the Nami International Illustration Concours (South Korea), the Society of Illustrators of New York, the Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair exhibition “Italian Excellence”.
