Andrea D'Aquino
Andrea D’Aquino is an author-illustrator based in New York. She creates vibrant, layered artwork that combines collage, painting, drawing, found textures, and mixed-media techniques into emotionally expressive visual narratives.
Her books include the critically acclaimed A Life Made by Hand: The Story of Ruth Asawa (PA Press/Chronicle), She Heard the Birds (PA Press/ Chronicle), Everything is Mine (Tate), and Silence Sounds Simple: A Day in the Life of John Cage by Gary Golio (Astra), among others. Her quirky version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was selected as one of dPictus’ 100 Best Illustrated Books. She is currently working on a self-initiated picture book called If You See a Coyote (Neal Porter Books, Spring 2028).
Andrea’s illustrations are published widely in publications including The New York Times, The Wall St Journal, Interni, and for clients such as Anthropologie, Patreon, The Harvard Business Review, Mondadori, NPR and The Eames Foundation.
Her art was the basis for an entire Spring fashion collection by Max Mara (Italy), and has been recognized by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, The Art Director’s Club, Communication Arts, among others.
She has exhibited in solo and group shows in New York, San Francisco, London, Verona and Bologna. She enjoys speaking engagements and workshops for both children and university students.
